Did Harmony Win Me Over?

I am just back from a short break on board Harmony of the Seas – The worlds largest cruise ship.

Expectations were high, there was such a media buzz around the ship. There is still a huge amount of media interest but I’m not sure it’s for the right reasons?

For me personally I loved the ship and everything she had to offer. Now she certainly isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. If you are a traditional cruiser and love a good bit of old Blighty thrown into the mix on holiday I doubt you will like Harmony. She is as American as they come! Loud & wild! For me perfect I am actually off to Florida on holiday next week!

I loved on board there was always something to do or something going on, H20 water zone, The Abyss (I actually thought it was a 10 story high water slide – wrong)! Puzzle Break Escape room, the carousel, the Aqua Theatre and ice rink to name a few.

If you like a little peace and quiet this is where you may struggle, Although the H20 Zone looked fab and my 4 yr old would love to spend all day there I found the pools tiny and sunbeds were almost sitting on top of each other. You would be hard pushed to find a nice quiet area to sit and watch the world go by. Although I did love Central Park and that was probably the calmest area and it was lovely to see real trees! It had a feel of a Spanish town with cafes lining the walkways. Here was where I found one of my favourite places to grab a snack, Café Central Park here I found great grab and go options for brunch. The choice of dining was immense if a little on the pricey side for some of the speciality dining $45 per head for 150 Central Park. We found the main dining room sufficient and the menu was varied. We did try Jonny Rockets but I was disappointed in the wait time to get a seat, almost 1 hour we waited.

Entertainment was fantastic again here Harmony really had a huge amount for all tastes. The Royal Theatre is where you find the main production show and on board it was Grease – As good as any West End show I have seen. If you wanted something more low key, head to the pub on the Royal Promenade for some live music, The Tenors of Rock brilliant! I saw them on board Queen Mary a few years back if you are a regular cruiser I am sure you will have seen them too. Then not forgetting the shows that happen as you are strolling along the Royal Promenade, we were entertained by the Totally Awesome 90’s show!

As for bars – Wow where do I start?! So many you would struggle to get around them in a week! Sabor Tequila bar, On Air Karaoke, the local pub, Boleros Spanish themed bar, Schooners and my favourite the Rising Tide bar.

For kids the facilities again scored top marks. Having a 4 year old that like to cruise (He has been on 4 now)!! Charlie would have been in his element on board im sure he would have wanted to spend more time at kids club than with me & his dad!

Overall I really enjoyed my time on Harmony of the Seas, Would I cruise on her for my own family holiday? Yes Although she is the biggest ship in the world there are lots of area to explore I really loved all the different neighbourhoods.
