Sunday at the Seaside

Yesterday my husband and I decided to have a day out with my sister and her husband and we took ourselves off to the seaside. We had booked ourselves in for afternoon tea at the Hoste Hotel in Burnham Market after it had been recommended to us. We were not disappointed when the cake stand arrived with mini quiche’s, sandwiches, mini Victoria sponges, mini éclairs, shortbread and not forgetting the scones with clotted cream and jam. This of course was accompanied by a glass of Champagne which I was allowed as I wasn’t driving (for once!)

While we were there we also had time to take in some retail therapy, which is law in my book, when you go out for the day! I had been told about a hat shop in Burnham Market that is definitely worth a visit when you are there. I have never seen anything like it, there are rooms and rooms of hats in every shape, size and colour and even a room full of men’s hats, from deer stalkers to bowler hats, you name it they had it! We didn’t buy anything this time but If you were going to a wedding, and couldn’t find a suitable hat here, then I would be amazed. We did have fun trying them on though!

Had to find one to match my dress!           Sherlock!

Once we had finished our trying on spree  we set off for Hunstanton, somewhere I haven’t been for  at least 40 years! We parked in Old Hunstanton (I didn’t even know such a place existed) at the Le Strange Hotel  and walked into Hunstanton from there. This took about 30 minutes but was a lovely leisurely stroll along the coast. A must when you go to the seaside is a visit to the fair but I must admit I didn’t go on any of the rides, I’m more of an observer!

And of course another must for the seaside is fish and chips, and yes we did have room for it even after our cream tea! Once it was time to leave we took a leisurely stroll back into old Hunstanton but not before we had a little play in the park! Something else I probably haven’t done for 40 years but it was fun!
