Barcelona and Epic Part 1

I have just returned from a fabulous 2 night stay in Barcelona and a week’s cruise on NCL Epic and would like to tell you about the hotel stay. I had previously stayed at the Barceló Raval hotel but when trying to book  for this holiday found the price had risen significantly in 2 years. I was then on a mission to find a good hotel in the Las Ramblas area as I wanted to be close to this area. After a bit of research I came across the Espana Ramblas Hotel which was located half way along Las Ramblas in a 19th century building and situated about 50 metres down a side street. next to the Liceu Theatre. After taking a taxi from the airport I was a bit worried when we turned into the street where the hotel was as this was very narrow, and the buildings on the opposite side of the street looked a bit tatty, to say the least. First impressions were soon forgotten once we got inside though.

There was a large entrance where we were greeted by very friendly reception staff and our room was ready even though it was only 12.30pm and check-in should have been at 2pm. We had a room on the 3rd floor which had a shuttered balcony, which overlooked the street, and I thought this may have been noisy, but there was no need to worry as we did not experience any street noise at all.

Our Comfy Bed!

The room itself was very modern with flat screen TV. air conditioning and Free Wifi, as was the bathroom, with double sink and modern fixtures and fixings.  There was also a fridge that had complementary water, nuts and chocolate!

Large Shower and Toilet Cubicle  One each!

Although we had only chosen room only there was the option for bed and breakfast in Bar Arnau and the hotel also has a Mediterranean restaurant run by famous chef Martín Berasategui.

Dining Room  Small Roof Top Pool

Terrace Jacuzzi  Part of the Chill Out Area on The Roof Terrace

The hotel also had a roof top terrace bar with a small pool and Jacuzzi but unfortunately this is only open May-September (weather permitting) but we were able to get up there to have a look and would be a lovely place to have a relaxing drink.

This is a hotel I would definitely recommend ideal location, spotlessly clean rooms and very friendly staff.
