Regal Princess hits ITV!

I was excited to sit down and watch the first of a six part tv series The Cruise on ITV last week.

Princess have always been one of my favourite cruise lines. My very first cruise way back then was a Princess cruise, I sailed on board the Sea Princess and I fell in love with the ship and with cruising. I was blown away and it’s honestly never left me…corny I know but true.

I’m always a bit wary as to what’s going to be shown on this type of programme and sometimes I think they don’t do the cruise line or ship any justice. I’m hoping this series is going to be different and I have to say I was pretty impressed with the first episode.

Regal Princess looked fantastic and how anyone watching didn’t want to get straight on board I don’t know. My other half kept saying “wow”, “how amazing”. I think they did such a good job of capturing just how beautiful the ship is, and I’m sure there’s so much more to come. It’s so important for Princess to get this right in a series like this and what better way to reach out to all those potential cruising passengers than a show like this.

This TV series will be taking a look behind the scenes which is always fascinating. They will follow certain crew members and show just what goes into running a ship of this size, the amount of work that it takes is phenomenal. Sometimes you step on board a ship such as Regal and forget just what goes on behind the scenes and how every single crew member plays their part.

Regal Princess carries around 3600 passengers and 1400 crew, she’s stands at a huge 217 ft tall, 19 decks and is one of the largest ships in the world. Impressive!

The Cruise will not only follow the staff but some of the passengers and I’m sure they are going to keep us entertained. I had to laugh when one of the passengers admitted he didn’t expect to enjoy a cruise as he thought they were for…..”newlyweds, over fed and nearly dead” passengers. I had to smile! It shows that still even now there are still so many pre conceptions about cruising….shows like this on will hopefully go towards getting rid of some of them.

What do you think? Did you enjoy the programme? Will you be watching again? New to cruise and you think it’s for you?

I’d love to hear your thoughts as always.
