Abbi's ABC Of Cruising

Queen Mary 2 here I come!

I’m so excited…..why you ask?  Well on Friday I’m off on board Queen Mary 2 for our annual Christmas conference at sea! I love my job! This year we have been especially lucky, myself and my colleagues will be sailing off for 3 nights on board this beautiful ocean liner and I can’t wait.

This will be my first time cruising with Cunard, although I have been on board Queen Victoria for a ship tour and lunch I have never actually cruised on a Cunard ship. I know from my customers that the Cunard cruise experience is a special one and I can’t wait to try it first- hand.

Queen Mary 2 is the flag ship for Cunard, at just over 150, ooo tons carrying 2600 passengers. A huge ship, larger than any that I have been on before and I am sure it will take me 3 days just to get my bearings!

How about these for some  mind blowing facts?….She is 113 feet longer than the original Queen Mary, Queen Mary is 147 feet longer than the famous Eiffel Tower is tall (an impressive 984 ft).   The ship is more than 3 ½ times as long as Big Ben is high 310 ft. Wow!

These are some of the places on board I can’t wait to check out. First on my list will be the Planetarium….Queen Mary 2 is the only ship to have one at sea so I definately won’t miss this. The 150-seat theatre presents star shows throughout the day.

Next will be the dining room for Afternoon Tea….this experience always comes highly recommended by my customers, I have been of course to afternoon teas on other cruise lines but I’m told Cunard’s is one of the best, I’ll let you know when I get home.

Now this is one I’m not sure I’ll have time for but I will definately go and see the Canyon Ranch Spa Club if nothing else. This is where if I was on a longer cruise holiday I would be pampering myself and treating my self to a massage or two!

Not only will I have the pleasure of the Queen Mary 2 , on Sunday we will be calling into Zeebrugge so will be able to take the coach to Bruges, again first time for me as I haven’t been there before. I’m really looking forward to the Christmas markets, the photos I have been looking are amazing. I know I’ll be sampling the delicious Belgian waffles not to mention all the Belgian chocolates. I’ve got strict instructions not to come home empty handy without some Belgian chocolates. I might even be able to finish off my Christmas shopping with some gifts from the markets

So that’s it from me until next week…..make sure to keep a look out for my highlights from the Queen Mary 2 and of course Bruges next week and I promise to take lots of photos for you.
