Christmas Magic with my little one.

I have been lucky enough to have Christmas at home with my family this year which has been amazing. My little girl is almost 3 so this is the first year she has been excited about Christmas and has seemed to understand a bit more making it extra special. I have always loved Christmas, but Christmas with children is the best feeling in the world for me. This year I decided to book the Santa Express train ride for us. It came highly recommended by friends to us and I couldn’t wait to go.

The Santa Express is a steam train that goes from Bury to Ramsbottom in Lancashire with of course Santa on board!  The station at Bury is transformed into a grotto, fairy lights, Christmas trees, elves. The look on Sofia’s face when she saw it all said it all , she was totally mesmerised . Our tickets were checked by the Elves at the station and again her little face lit up.

The train itself is an old steam engine and takes you on your journey from Bury through the countryside with some amazing views. It was a shame  the weather wasn’t better for us, it poured down meaning all the windows of the carriage steamed up so we couldn’t see very much outside. Although the great thing I guess is that no matter what the weather you still have a fantastic time on the train.

We were served with a glass of sherry and a mince pie, there was music playing and all the children so excited for the trip. My mum and dad joined us and as you can see enjoyed it as much as we did.

The Elves and the Toy Soldier appear first on the train building the excitement for the little ones, Santa follows and as you can imagine the children on board were thrilled to see  him. He makes his way down the train with presents for all the children stopping for photos with the little ones. Sofia for the first year didn’t scream the place down when she met Sofia and seemed quite taken with him, she even managed to tell him she wanted a new bike!

Next followed the brass band singing all your favourite Christmas carols, everyone singing along. A magician going from carriage to carriage performing his tricks for the children…and the adults!

All in all we loved the Santa Express ride, especially seeing my little girls face light up with the magic of it all. I’m just sad Christmas is over, it goes too quickly but hey there are only 360 shopping days til next Christmas!!
