Abbi's ABC Of Cruising

Boudicca here I come!!

Well this time next week I’ll be on board Fred Olsen’s Boudicca! I’m very excited as I have never cruised with Fred in all my time selling cruises and we are also visiting Dublin….again it will be the first time and I really can’t wait. Each year our Christmas conference is a mini cruise and this year it’s the turn of Boudicca, it’s not often we all together so it’s going to be lovely to see everyone. We’ll work hard , get to experience Fred Olsen and of course there will be a party or two during the cruise….Exciting!

The Boudicca is a much smaller and older ship that I have been on before, she carries around 880 passengers compared to my last ship which held 3000 plus! Looking at the ship there is of course everything you can imagine on board from the dining choices, the theatre, shopping, the spa and the gym….all just on a much smaller scale. From booking Fred Olsen cruises over the years I know they have a really high percentage of repeat guests so they definately get it right for their passengers. In fact I remember a conversation with a lady I book all the time with Cunard, she tried her very first Fred Olsen cruise not long ago, she got an amazing deal and thought she would give them a whirl, not expecting to like them as much as she did. She said that the food on board was on a par with the cruises she had been on with Cunard! I’ll give you my verdict when I get back….one of my favourite perks of the job sampling different cruise lines restaurants!

We’ll be sailing from Liverpool, a welcome change from Southampton for me, 30 minutes on the train rather than 6 hours in the car! Our mini cruise will take us to Dublin, as I said this trip will be my first, it’s a city I have always wanted to go to but never made it for one reason or other. It’ll be a tour bus city tour for most of us, making sure we see as much as we can whilst we’re there.

Being so close to Christmas I’m also looking forward to the markets…I love this time of year! I’m hoping to get a really good feel for Dublin, as I’d like to book a mini break next year. Mini cruises are a perfect way to see what a city has to offer before booking a longer break there.

So as you can imagine I’m really excited about my up and coming cruise with Fred Olsen and of course watch this space as I’ll be telling you all about it when I get back.

As always thanks for reading Abbi x
