My week in Menorca….

As I mentioned a few weeks ago I have recently been on holiday to Menorca with my family. It’s a place close to my heart after living there and working there are a holiday rep. I was curious to see how much one of my favourite places in the world had changed over the years. Being back in Calan Bosch took me back to all those years ago and it was a strange feeling almost like it transported me back in time.

So did this beautiful island live up to my memories….it did and more…we honestly had the best holiday and I could have stayed forever…..I’m sure you’ve all had that feeling where you don’t want your holiday to end,  well we did so much so that we extended and stayed a couple of extra nights. The weather was perfect, apart from when we landed and it was raining! I did worry but no need we woke up the following day to glorious sun shine and we didn’t see a cloud in the sky all week.

In  my opinion Menorca is such a great destinations for families and I couldn’t wait to take my little girl there. One of the best things about Menorca for me are all the gorgeous beaches, small cove beaches, some of which can only be reached by foot or boat, with shallow crystal clear waters, they could honestly rival some of the great Caribbean beaches I have seen.  My little girl Sofia loved it, we honestly couldn’t tear her away from the beach and the water, she loved swimming and snorkelling with the fish.

We went off on a boat trip to some of the more secluded beaches….although I have to say they were busier than I remember them being which was a shame, but still so beautiful. From memory there are so many of these secluded beaches I’m sure if you looked you could find your very own beach for the day!

The marina was just as I remembered it, even the same restaurants and bars were the same as 17 years ago….it’s like it had stood still in time. We chose not to do the all inclusive package at our hotel, as I knew there were so many great restaurants to choose from. We ate out at a different one every evening and every meal was fantastic.

The aparthotel we stayed at was perfect, great location just by the marina, and a short walk to the beach. There were lots of swimming pools and water slides….perfect for children.  I have to say holidays where I used to lay on a sun lounger sipping cocktails are certainly a thing of the past with a four year old. She kept us in the water swimming and playing with her all day…..of course I wouldn’t swap it for the world!

I can’t tell you how relaxed and refreshed I feel after our week away together, it was just what we all needed. Sun, sea, good food and of course wine and lots of fun! I loved Menorca just as much as I did all those years ago….in fact even more and can’t wait to go back.
