The ncl website states you can smoke in your stateroom, on your balcony, on deck (away from food areas/kids areas/etc), in the cigar lounge and in the casino! fantastic! as a smoker the whole idea of a cruise appeals: when you fly you have 3 hours from entering the airport until you get on your plane and then another hour at least getting out of your destination airport. That's 4 hours ON TOP of your flight time without a cigarette! no wonder there's airplane-rage! and all so airlines can save money by recycling the same stale air all through the flight. When you could smoke on planes the air quality was fantastic as they HAD to introduce fresh oxygen regularly. Nowadays the whole plane practically passes out after a transatlantic flight from lack of oxygen! ANYHO! kudos to ncl, cunard and other cruise lines for allowing smokers to enjoy their trips without feeling like a social leper (like celebrity and fred olsen do! how these lines don't like people smoking on their balconies, in the open air is bizarre!).

Royal Princess

By Emily Watts

Last week I was lucky enough to experience Royal Princess which was also my first time on a Princess ship. It was everything I expected and more. as soon as we got on board I was impressed with the decor and the grandness, it really is a beautiful ship. Our cabin was located on Baja deck B215 which had a balcony and for two sharing it is very spacious. Princess prides themselves on the beds and it was probably one of the most comfortable ones I have ever slept on. After embarkation, we...

How Fred Olsen compares

By Charlene Thackeray

Charlene Thackeray's blog

We are recently back from our first Fred Olsen cruise.Whilst this is the smallest ship we have been on as a family there were lots of great things and a few not so great things for us. We knew there would not be much for Charlie on board however he had a great time with all his new friends from the Entertainments team. I can honestly say the entertainment team were really friendly and put on some great shows. I loved how the stage rose in the Neptune lounge making it a great area for lots of ...

Two nights on Indy..

By Alison Ranaldi

Alison Ranaldi's blog

Last week I spent two nights on the newly revamped Independence of the Seas.We sailed from Southampton in glorious sunshine to Le Havre and back. This was my third time on board this ever-popular ship and I was keen to see the changes to her after a big refit. We had a balcony cabin on deck 9 which had everything we needed for a comfortable break. I’m not generally a fan of mini-cruises. They offer an excellent way for someone like myself to see the ships but I do not think they are a g...
