Thank you so much Miller of Hamstreet. Can I bother you with some more queries? How exactly did you get the local fishing boat? Language problem? Negotiated price or fixed (prefer fixed hate bartering!). Roughly how much? Did you pay in Danish Krone (local currency) or will they take US$ or Euros? It's difficult to know how much to change up in UK when not been. Did anyone do whale safari - any ideas/feedback? Thank you so much anyone that can help for both ports.

That is very strange as there is so much lovely scenery to enjoy. Get one of the local fishing boats to take you to an ice fjord and you will be amazed at the beauty of the icebergs large and small. The capital (now called Nuuk) is intersting to see. Meet some of the people who are a mixture of Inuits and Danes. They have an interesting story to tellof their way of life. Greenland is the size of Western Europe with an estimated population of around 50K so you will find a gloriously beautiful but empty country. I cruised to there last year on a ship smaller than those of P&O and enjoyed the shore excursions immensely. I loved the place. One warning when the sun shines, as it did last Summer there, it is very strong. I got very sun-burned.

Ype your answer here...Hello there - I too am on the greenland cruise and phoned P&O who said that tours they had done previously had been poorly received. I found a very good website for Greenland - - click on south for Qatatorq and west for Nuuk (Godthab). One thing I did find out from this site is that there are no road connections between the towns - not exactly conducive to touring. However, I think it's possible to do a whale watching trip if time permits, otherwise I think these are DIY ports.

MSC Cruises Raises 8 Million E...

We often hear about some of the negative aspects of cruising, particularly the effects of mass tourism and the environmental impact but much amazing work does go unnoticed. Were you aware of MSC Cruises’ partnership with UNICEF?MSC Cruises and UNICEF have worked in partnership since 2009 and together established in 2013 a global initiative to assist malnourished children in developing countries and those affected by crises. The initiative encourages MSC guests across the fleet to make a...

The Nightmare Of Packing For A Holiday !

By Camilla Edwards

Camilla Edwards's blog

Watching the Royal wedding this weekend, and looking at the lovely outfits, I started to think about what I am going to pack for my Azamara cruise next week. Choosing an outfit for any special occasion can be daunting, and time consuming, and a Royal Wedding must be stressful to say the least but packing, for a holiday is another thing altogether! The first cruise I ever went on was Fred Olsen Braemar sailing from Southampton. Packing for that was easy, just take everything you want as there i...
