MINI CRUISES

This was the first time that my wife and I have cruised. What an experience! Cruise ship was Azura evening dining in the Oriental Restaurant, faultless food and service. In fact the whole dining experience including the buffet was a real pleasure...  Read More >>

The Dream is great in size but the staff do a super job to keep you special. We stayed in an inside staterrom which was of an acceptable size with a virtual porthall, there was space under the bed to fit our suitcase...  Read More >>

We booked a Royal Caribbean cruise about a year ago, the prices have now reduced. Our travel agents have informed us that they honour the RCL price promise. As i understand it RCI tend to compensate by giving on board credit. If we accept on board credit and the cruise is cancelled (The cruise date is 14 May, Spanish airport workers planned strike date). Would we lose the on board credit and receive the lower cruise price.

Thank You for your advice. We went to our local travel agent today (Thomas Cook). We had already paid the final payment. They phoned RCL who agreed that the price had dropped. RCL e-mailed a new statement to Thomas Cook who made a refund to my bank account. We were very impressed with Thomas Cook and RCL in the way they handled this situation. The travel advisor at Thomas Cook said that she had been in the travel industry for 15 years and this was her first RCL price promise that she had dealt with. In the past we have booked our cruise early but the next cruise will be booked much nearer to the departure date.

Is this for cruise only? What if the cabin price has gone down but your package includes flights.

That is the reason we now only book in advance with RCI and Celebrity. It is very annoying when you book a cruise only to find they are selling the identical, if not a better accommodation for less than half what you paid, and they are throwing in some on board credit as well. That has happened to us with Cunard; it will never happen again as we will never book in advance with them, just wait to see if they are selling them off cheaper near to the sail date.

You actually get a refund against the cost and not OBC as long as you have not made a final payment, I done this last year and on a Med cruise and got £490 off original cost - Best of luck

You can get a refund if you have not made final payment. The first refund is free, any further refunds will cost you a 35 pounds admin fee... If you have made final payment then they will credit you with OBC. Just make sure you spend it all or you will lose it. If the cruise is cancelled then they should roll it over onto your next reservation.
