I am going on a cruise on Sept 20th from Anchorage on the Diamond Princess travelling to China and Vietnam and have had to get a visa for China for myself and my husband, which we have just applied for, we had to have it even if we were not getting off the ship. The visa for Vietnam can be obtained on board. Hope this helps you.

LAST year, the visas for Cambodia and Vietnam were available on board for $25/$28. For mainland China you were covered by a group visa. They have not yet decided on the policy for this year. US$ will be accepatable in most countries but I would take SIN$ and HK$ and THB personally too.

Singapore, No visa required (stay up to 14 days)with a UK passport. Thailand waive the visa for cruise ships. Thai Baht is a very poor currency, with a poor rate of exchange in the UK. Personally I take minimal from here & use a debit card in the hole in the wall over there to top up my needs. You get a better deal that way. The local traders in Phuket prefer/insist on Baht but the bigger stores, we found, will take USD & SIN$.

Well what a week it’s been with the collapse of Monarch, it has sent shock waves through the travel industry and here at www.CRUISE.co.uk our team have been working hard to ensure that our cruise customers have been looked after and that it has had a minimal effect on their cruise booking.I have been so sad and upset for all those employees waking up last week to find their job had gone…just like that! I have been in that situation before, a good few years ago now but I remember how h...
