Hornby - Answered a Question by Mitchell (22 Mar 08 15:20)

Priority checkin is NOT offered to Gold level Crown & Anchor members on RCI, only to Platinum or above level. Gold is actually the 'starter' level, awarded after your first cruise, and lasting until you have completed 5 cruises, when you are elevated to Platinum. That's when priority checkin comes in. After 10 cruises, you become a Diamond member, then after 24, you are Diamond Plus, and get to take the Captain home with you after the cruise.

Beaumont - Answered a Question by Mitchell (28 Jun 07 15:26)

The only way I know of priority boarding is to book a suite or to perhaps have cruised with one line so often that you achieve "Gold" points standard for example. We have been on Brilliance and it is the most fabulous, beautiful ship. However the food was very bland and "American" - not a patch on P & O. We have had priority boarding everytime with P & O by booking a mini-suite or full suite. We also have priority disembarkation as well, being the first to get off at the end of the cruise is worth the extra. Priority boarded passengers also have sandwiches and champagne etc. whilst waiting for the cabins to be finished. Hope this is helpful.

Robins - Answered a Question by Mitchell (29 Jun 07 12:12)

Priority check in is normally only awarded to Crown and Anchor members with Gold or Platinum status or by booking a suite. You can check with RCI/Celebrity head office if you have special needs or look at their web-site. If you have priority status then signs will show you where to go at the dock but with Radiance Class ships boarding is not as arduous as it used to be and the systems generally work well. I would disagree with the previous answer writer in that I found the food far better than P&O although not as good as Celebrity's. Brilliance is great and Radiance Class is unique in its shape and layout, if you haven't been on it before you are in for a trea.

Peace of Mind

By Alana Mills

With Hurricane Matthew having torn its way across the Caribbean and the Florida coast and and Typhoon Haima raging in the Far East, many Cruise ships had to seek shelter in port or re-route to avoid it as well as hotels having to batten down the hatches causing holiday misery for many.It begs the question of how safe is your holiday?Over my 30 years in travel I have seen many disasters that have affected the travel plans of hundreds of people, like 9-11, The Icelandic Volcano, many weather ev...

Bliss in Alaska and Joy for China

By Anne Eaves

Anne Eaves's blog

Being a great fan of NCL cruise lines I have welcomed the news that the 2 newest ships to join the fleet in 2017 and 2018 will be based in China and Alaska respectively. Norwegian Joy which will enter service in Summer 2017 will be based in Shanghai and Tianjin. I have recently returned from a cruise on Norwegian Epic around the Mediterranean and there were a lot of Chinese staff on board who were training and getting ready for the new ship.Norwegian Joy is being styled exclusively for the Ch...

Free Wifi is this an essential...

WIFI seems to be one of the most important factors now days when people are considering booking a cruise. We used to offer free car parking or on board credit as extra incentives for booking but now we are finding that people would rather have free internet.Cruise lines are also starting to offer this as an alternative to their booking campaigns and whilst it will never take over from the free drinks packages I think it is becoming a close second. When I go on holiday I cant think of anything ...
