Celebrity are RCI's premium brand so it makes sense to expect a better standard of service, otherwise they'd be shooting themselves in the foot. Independence is aimed directly at the 'family market', so school holiday periods are going to be hell if you don't want kids around you. If your looking at RCI as an option, the Radiance Class ships tend to be a lot less child friendly & are suited more to the 'traditional' cruise experience.......Wilba .

RCI ships tend to be very impressive but you should expect lower standards of food, service and space. They are more family orientated and less formal. On the other hand the fare should be lower. Personally I do find RCI good value for money. Have you thought of Cunard? Celebrity are almost an American version of Cunard (Cunard having an Anglo-American feel).

Or left side versus the right side of the ship?I suppose it depends on where you’re headed. I know that quite a few seasoned cruisers swear by the Starboard side. Although it really depends on what type of cruise you are on.For instance, if you are sailing in one direction, North or West generally people pr...

My NON cruise holiday this Easter.

By Haydn Jones

I’ve just come back from a family Easter holiday to Spain, surprisingly not on a cruise this time. My children are of the age where we have to go away during school holidays. We decided on Benalmadena, Spain as we have been before , its not too far, and the boys love it there. The weather was absolutely glorious, we were so lucky this time of year to have 10 days of boiling sunshine. Benalmdena is a town on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, known for its beaches and the modern Pue...
