I wouldn't worry unduly as you are going out of school holiday time so there shouldn't be too many children on board.....the only cabin noise we heard was the walls creaking!!! but we were travelling across the Atlantic at the time and all ships seem to creak in our experience!! Our cabin on C deck was very comfortable (especially the bed!) We enjoyed our cruise very much and are also in our sixties...if we encountered any noisy people we found somewhere quiet to go...theres plenty of quiet little spots to find inside and out. Don't worry I'm sure you will enjoy yourselves.

We have just returned from the Caribbean on Ventura and I understand that there were problems over The New Year.We too are Seniors and it sounds as if we look for the same type of Cruise.Hopefully the New Year problem was a one off.Firstly Ventura is a big Ship. There were problems with availability of sun loungers on Sea Days and although the Theatre Seats nearly 800 and had 3 Performances each Evening we had difficulty in getting Seats for the popular shows. But tobe brutally honest the entertainment on the whole was poor. The food and service is excellent but some passengers did not seem to understand the concept of Club and Freedom Dining.Being a Family ship I think that you should be prepared for a number of Parents with young children to be on board. However The Kids were no problem at all to us and looked great on the Formal nights.I do think however that some adults took the Casual Dress code too far but perhaps I am an old fuddy duddy. You should try Marco Pierre Whites and the Beach House for alternative Dining and that special occasion. As for Cabin Noise we had no problems, except when manoeurvring when getting to port and one night when we went full speed to reach the nearest port after an accident involving one of the crew who needed Emergency Treatment. But even this it was no more that slight vibration.Ventura is a lovely ship and deserves to succeed but P&O must decide which market it is aiming for ie Families ,1st Timers ,Regular Cruisers at the moment they do not seem to be able to make their mind up.I will be interested to hear if P&O have learnt from their mistakes concerning the Xmas/New Year cruise .All I can say is give Ventura a go .Just to make it clear on Crusise ran from 3/1/09-18/01/09 and therefore did not take in the New Year when all the problems seemed to have occurred.

We are a party of 4 (2 x 2 couples) who are booked on this cruise too - just wondered if you'd been informed of the change of itinerary? Our letters have not arrived, despite P&O insisting they'd been sent out on 6th Feb. Seems strange that neither of us has received them, especially as we are not on the same booking reference.

Travel Insurance is a MUST!

By Barbara Hopley

We all like our yearly or twice yearly holiday, some of us have more holidays & cruises than others BUT however many you take you MUST have travel insurance.I have heard so many horror stories about people who haven’t taken insurance or taken out the proper cover for their particular holiday. It can be quite costly to receive treatment on board a cruise ship or even be airlifted off and if you haven’t got insurance to cover these costs you would probably have to re-mortgage to ...

So in the last week some exciting news for Independence of the Seas fans has emerged – and it appears Royal Caribbean might be building bigger ships with new innovations on them, but they are also committed to re-innovating their older ships such as the Independence of the Seas. When the ship goes into dry dock in April 2018 there will be a number of new features added such as a trampoline park – the first one at sea (these do seem to be now becoming popular in the UK – my ho...
