You must remember cruise lines are international and most allow smoking but in restriced areas and not in the dining room. On Celebrity it is usually the starboard side with no smoking on the port side in the bars, but the air con on the ships we have been on deals with the smoke very effectively. When checking-in/boarding there is usually no smoking and there is usually one area set aside for those passengers who smoke cigars.
Roll on the time when ALL ships (particularly P&O) are totally no smoking. Most of the restaurants and pubs around where I live say that the ban hasn't made any difference to their turnover as people who prefer a smog-and-cancer-free-environment are now going out more and thus compensates for the smokers who stay home.
To answer Inglett, sharnford, Hinkley What is wrong with PAYING customers wanting a cigarette?????Why should P&O ban smoking?? The goverment have banned smoking and they are exempt from the law in the house of commons and still SMOKE alittle bit of do as I say not as I do. I dont drink alcohol why not ban that also on P&O as there is usually a loud obnoxious drunken person somewhere on board!! I believe in equal rights smokers and drinkers should both be able to enjoy a happy relaxing cruise.
