Suggest you read 'cruise critic' and their ports of call section on the boards for useful info re sightseeing in N.

Hi Eileen, Not sure about the status of the trams but if they're working that's worth the experience. The French Quarter is a area that is not to be missed and you can spend many happy hours wandering, listening, looking and eating here. We did a pleasure boat jazz cruise with a evening meal which was ok but could have been better. Great place though just be as street-wise as you know how....enjoy y'all.....Ida Dow.

We visited New Orleans before the hurricane. I believe the French Quarter was largely unaffected. We did a lovely walking tour of the French Quarter with a guide who lived in the city. This was a P&O trip. We visited a period house where we had refreshments, we went to the Mardi Gras Museum and various other places. We thought it was well worth doing. We are on Arcadia to New Orleans in January so may be doing the same itinerary as you.

Hi Eileen Just caught us as we about to vanish to the open sea for a while again, some might wish us a longer cruise. I saw no offers for a trip without the meal but if you search the New Orleans tourist web site you may well find a trip with jazz only and if you do let us know because that would be great for a future trip. The French Quarter certainly has its fair ration of music which ranges greatly and is always so entertaining, it's something the American South does better than most. the food there also comes in huge portions as do the drinks, I envy you....regards Neil Dow.

Rocky Mountaineer Part Three

By Alana Mills

Kamloops to Jasper. This morning we left for the station early again as the train was leaving at 7.15am.Today I am experiencing the Silver Leaf Service. The Silver Leaf carriages are a single storey carriage but have large panoramic windows with an additional curved glass panel as the roof curves although the centre of the roof is solid unlike on the Gold Leaf. The windows allow you to see the scenery well so dont worry about missing out.The seats were again spacious and comfortable. They are...

P&O Smarten up the passengers!...

By Gina Rowan

Gina Rowan's blog

No doubt you’ve seen the latest notification from P&O outlining their new Dress Code, and its causing some controversy I can tell you!No more ‘questionable’ slogans or images on clothing, no Fancy Dress – only permitted on ‘Theme Nights’, and only what P&O deem suitable. No Denim, Football shirts after 6pm. This type of outerwear will be confined to your cabins! (No mention of Rugby or other sports?) May need more clarification P&O, as wh...
