We are very sorry to hear this and with it being half term it would be very difficult to find anything else for this period. I would, however, make it known to as many agents and cruise lines as possible that you could be available at a moments notice as cancellations do occur quite frequently so you would stand a chance if that is what you want to do. Comiserations. It's a rotten thing to happen & we were victim to this a few years ago with RCI. They sent us voucher which was valid for 12 months so hopefully all the cruise lines offer similar time frames. Regards Wilba.
Like you we are in the same boat - or not as the case now seems to be !! Personally I don't think the compensation of a refund and 25% discount on a future cruise is enough . This is not based on trying to be greedy on an unfortunate situation, but more on the fact that many people who booked this cruise, were possibly using this weekend to celebrate a special occasion ! I booked this cruise eight MONTHS ago as a special Birthday surprise for my husband and now it's too late to arrange anything as a substitute !!
Considering the Fred Olsen cruise line is probably worth billions I don't think they would have been too hard pressed to have offered much more than what they are doing, for all the inconvenience that this has caused to all of us, and who have been let down badly. Obviously the breakdown is not their fault, but customer care should be paramount - especially as I'm sure they are extremely well covered with their insurance !!
