Braemar is wonderful. She was our first cruise ship. I have travelled with Monarch three times now. P&O have stopped using them and changed to First Choice which has much better legroom. I don't like Monarch and some of the planes they use seem quite dated. However, just think of the wonderful time waiting for you on Braemar and it won't seem so bad.

Hi there, We did the same cruise two years ago. At that time Fred Olsen was using Thomson. We are going to the Med next year with Fred and have been told the flight is with Monarch. Having flown with them this year to the Dom Rep I foresee no real problems. We were charged almost £500 for premium seats but to be honest it is a bit expensive for what you get. They told us complementry drinks, hardly at that price. There planes are dated but not to bad. You will love you cruise, the Braemar is superb.

Just got back from Braemar to Caribbean over Xmas/New Year. Whole flight was Braemar passengers thus good atmosphere, with all drinks FoC. Legroom not v.good (but better than *some* cheap airlines), but this became more of a problem on the return where you need to sedate yourself so you'll not notice that your spine is becoming deformed.

Although my first great love is Cruising………..my second is football, my beloved Cardiff City to be precise! I’m thinking maybe I should have put my wife and children in here somewhere but they will understand! As a season ticket holder i’ve been a little distracted over the last few weeks as we have been fighting for the second automatic promotion spot to the Premier League! It’s been a close fought battle with Fulham and it went down to the very last game...

How Fred Olsen compares

By Charlene Thackeray

Charlene Thackeray's blog

We are recently back from our first Fred Olsen cruise.Whilst this is the smallest ship we have been on as a family there were lots of great things and a few not so great things for us. We knew there would not be much for Charlie on board however he had a great time with all his new friends from the Entertainments team. I can honestly say the entertainment team were really friendly and put on some great shows. I loved how the stage rose in the Neptune lounge making it a great area for lots of ...
