The Dream is great in size but the staff do a super job to keep you special. We stayed in an inside staterrom which was of an acceptable size with a virtual porthall, there was space under the bed to fit our suitcase...  Read More >>

We done 14 nights on QE2 in Aug/September and there were actually 6 formal nights, 4 of which were balls. All balls are on formal dining nights and the ball is held after dinner in the Queens Room. Ballroom dancing is only done here and the name of the ball relates to the theme of the ball. In reality you can wear themed outfits but few do except for the black and white and the masquerade balls. Black and white is exactly that; Dinner Suit and black and white ball gown. For the Masquerade ball guests can buy or make masks on board or take their own. The ships dance professionals may be in 17th century Venetian outfits but guests do not have to go that far. No one will be asked to leave because they are not wearing a themed outfit. Other modern dancing will take place in the Yacht Club to live and disco music. For single ladies the ship employs male dance hosts who do their best!

That would be perfectly acceptable if not ideal. For the nautical ball try a sailor themed outfit or try drawing inspiration from "Pirates of the Caribbean". You do not have to dine in the same outfit that you go dancing in so be creative. Enjoy the cruise. We loved it and hope you do too.

Black and White Ball --- does this mean wear only black and/or white? Yes - easier for the men as these always fall on formal nights. Masquerade Ball -- costume? Fancy dress? Mask? Mask only. Formal nautical ball is on a formal night with a nautical theme (pirate /nelson ect) Royal Ascot -- wear a hat as in "My Fair Lady"? Exactly! And there's a prize for the best one
