Yes they are all paid but not very well and really do rely on the tips and as far as i am concerned deserve every penny plus some. We never have automatic gratuities removed from our bill and always tip those who have given us extra service such as our room attendant and waiter a bit extra. If you don't like tipping or can't afford it then perhaps yu shouldn't be cruising. We are not well off we are ordinary working people but think that credit should be given where it is due and the majority of staff work hard and for long hours don't short change them.

Yes you can opt out. You need to get a special form from the Purser's Office when you get on board.

Recently been on Caribbean cruise on QE2. $11 per person a day were automatically added but the waiters still obviously expected an additional tip. Notice in restaurant explained that the tip was for the "people you do not think of rewarding - e.g. crew on tenders etc...." Funny - I thought that was what we paid for and that these people got wages.

Would you pay to guarantee a sunbed??As you all know in the world of cruising if you want to have the best cabin on the ship in the best position then you pay for the privilege. The higher and more midship you go then the more expensive it is. Once your onboard and settled in to your cabin next stop is going up deck to find yourself a nice sunbed thats in a good position not too far from the bar in a nice sunny spot. Now as we all know if its a day at sea and youre not quick off the blocks so...

Well I have finally got my money back for my Monarch flights! After the collapse in September last year, 5 months seems so long to wait for a refund. Its been a long wait and at one point I did wonder if I was going to get it back. The sad news last year left some holiday makers stranded overseas and out of pocket. The poor Monarch staff were left stunned and jobless.Monarch had been in trouble the year before and the high costs of fuel and stiff competition became too much for the busine...
