BLYTH - Answered a Question by Gibson (27 Apr 08 13:36)

We did sail on the Century after the re-furb and it was great there were a few minor problems still unresloved but in 4 weeks they had added well over 300 new balconies. The service and the food was a good on any of the other Celebriaty ships and we have sailed on them all barring Constellation and Summit.

They spent $55million refurbishing her - how can she be tatty? The last 12 reviews I have read all awarded her between 4 and 5+ which seems pretty consistently high.

My wife and I were on the Century in 2005 (Baltic) and 2007 (North Cape). Apart from the added balconies and new speciality restaurant we didn't really notice any difference. Although we are cruising on the Azamara Quest this year we wouldn't hesitate to cruise on the Century again. John.

Sex, drugs and ports of call. ...

I recently read an article from a former cruise ship employee. He was explaining that having sex, taking drugs and making friends in the onboard sex dungeon was a regular occurrence on board one Caribbean cruise liner. Despite having sex with the clients being a sackable offence the staff would have no qualms getting involved. He also mentioned that the riskier the better so as well as having sex in the staff decks they would like to push the boundaries on the unpopulated decks. It wasn’...

Piraeus Athens Gateway Or ...

By Camilla Edwards

Continuing my look at European ports this week I thought I`d choose Piraeus, the port for the Greek capital Athens.Athens is probably most famous for the Acropolis, topped by the Parthenon Temple, and the National Museum. It is a bustling, busy city with lots to do and a place I have visited several times. It has lots of really good hotels, restaurants and bars as well as its history. Many cruise ships now visit Athens using Piraeus as the anchor port. The port sits about 7 miles from the city...
