Neil and Ida Down - Answered a Question by Collett (18 Dec 07 00:11)

My friends from Newbury are quite right about dress and when I was recently on her most people dressed well and there was an occasion when two people were turned away from the dining room because they were "not appropriately dressed" according to the Maitre d', so they do expect certain standards. She is going in for a refit early next year, I believe, and is certainly in need of it but it will not spoil the cruise and the staff on board are phenomenal. There is little space for ballroom dancing and most of it takes place in the Rendezvous where you can enjoy dances from quicksteps to rumbas providing not too many are on the smallish floor at the same time. They do tend to be a little noisy with the music and conversation at times is difficult. You should certainly enjoy the dining room food as it is of a very high quality….regards Ida .

For centuries these apples have been used to make a bubbly fermented cider and distilling that cid...

Best Low Cost Cruises

By Michael Wilkinson

Michael Wilkinson's blog

Best Low Cost CruisesSince the advent of low-cost airlines, savvy travellers have come to realise that no-frills doesn’t mean no-satisfaction. Indeed, what is often perceived as prudent when it comes to air travel also holds true in cruising. Most British cruise lines would recoil in horror at being termed ‘budget’ so keep in their good books I will term them Low Cost. There is a wealth of affordable voyages available if you know where to look. Over-capacity in cruising hot-s...

Silversea was not meant to be!

By Barbara Hopley

Barbara Hopley's blog

On Monday 22 May I was booked to go on a ship visit of the ‘Silver Whisper’ by Silversea Cruises. We get invited to see ships all the time but do them on our days off as too busy to take time out of a working week. That’s how dedicated I am to see as many ships as possible as so much easier to sell when you have seen them.I had been looking forward to seeing this ship as have never seen a Silversea ship, it had been booked for a few weeks and I made my arrangements at home ...
