Cruised on Coral Princess and post cruise land tour in July 2007. Our flights were with British Airways arranged by Princess. The Princess arranged pick up at the Fairbanks Hotel was an hour late in their pick ups. If we had been in the UK or Europe we would have been outside the check-in time especially as there were huge queues in the airport. However I had the impression that this was normal, everyone had a casual attitude and saw no problem. Actual flight was excellent with Alaska Airlines from Fairbanks to Seattle early morning, 7 o'clock or so arriving Seattle around 9. However the flight from Seattle to London was the overnight flight and left in the evening, Can't remember exact timing but I do remember spending all day in the airport. We should have arranged in advance to do a tour of Seattle instead of hanging around the airport. However we weren't sure if this would have been possible and how check in etc would be arranged as we had to go to the BA desk in the departure lounge to be allocated seats. (In hindsight we should have checked in on line). They did not open until approx 2 hours before the flight (and were late in opening). Also we did not want to cope with US immigration, so had a very boring day. Thankfully our luggage was checked in at Fairbanks through to Heathrow so we did not have that problem. Incidentally the BA flight from Seattle to Heathrow was one of the worst flights ever even though we travelled World Traveller Plus. The toilets were shared with an absolutely huge Economy cabin and were the most disgusting I have ever encountered even on the cheapest charter flights and the service was non existent. I do not know if it is possible to have flights via another gateway but I certainly do not recommend Seattle with BA. They are only interested in First Class and Business Class passengers from this destination.
