You could try the Novtel As far as trips go it depends it is is a full day or a half day one.We fine we pay bewteen £30 and £40 for the half day ones we avoid the all day as we are there to enjoy our self and not go on an endurance test. You can hire taxis/minibuses at the port and do your own thing but jusy make sure you agree a price before you go if you did meet up with some other passengers who have cruised before you could maybe join them or get some useful tips, but whatever happens make sure you are back in plenty of time before the ship sails or it will go without you. Not the case if you are on one of their excursions, but thats the choice you have to think about.

You can look on Royal Caribbean Web Site and check out the excursions for your cruise. All ships own port tours are always very overpriced, all the local taxis will do exactly same tours and or modify them to your own needs at a much better rate, especially if you are travelling with family or sometimes you can get another couple to share with you. Do some research beforehand and then just negotiate with the taxi drivers.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn next to the dock we were sailing from and watched the Indie depart from across the car park. We chose it because it was offering 15 day's free parking-I don't know if it was a special offer but we asked when we rang to enquire about rooms. We embarked and were looking down on our car-when we disembarked we didn't bother with the ship's luggage collection, but simply wheeled our luggage off and were on the road by 6am. Check where it's docking at the end of your cruise. Enjoy-jo.

A bit late maybe, but we are going on the ios on 1st aug. We have booked 2 nights at the etap hotel in southampton. Quite basic i believe, but clean and pleasant. It is £35 for a room per night. Can't complain at that.

Are drinks packages worth it ?

By Peter Wellman

Peter Wellman's blog

It’s a question I get asked almost daily, are drinks packages worth it and of course there isn’t an easy answer unless you want to go through your daily intake on holiday with me! Some people literally work out how many drinks they would have to have to get their money’s worth which is fine but there are other things to consider.First of all do you really want to be thinking about it every day ? How many have i had today, am I getting my moneys worth ? In my opinion no, I li...

MSC offers a new school along ...

By Adrian Partridge

Adrian Partridge's blog

MSC Cruises, they just get better and better in my opinion. Last month I wrote about getting on a ship and helping the Caribbean by going there and spending some money. MSC have done a lot more than that with their latest offer of a school for the children.Along with the government of the British Virgin Islands MSC have dedicated a new, building that will serve as a school in Virgin Gorda. All 15 schools were destroyed in the British Virgin Islands during the recent hurricanes, the new pre-fa...
