Just back from this trip on Sea Princess- you will love it!!! You shouldn't expect much in Greenland except a VERY warm welcome! We stopped in Nanortalik (poulation about 1,000) so you can imagine the impact a ship full of tourists has on the local economy. The locals had planned a kayak display which unfortunatley had to be cancelled due to poor weather, but they also did a traditional singing and dancing display in the school hall. There were two tiny shops - and I'd bet my life they'll both open specially for you - whatever day of the week! We were only on shore in Nanortalik for about 2 hours cos the weather made tendering slow. It was long enough to tour the town on foot. My top tip on this trip is to arrange your own shore excursions. Team up with others and hire taxis - you can go at your own pace. Hire a car in Lerwick. - Take v warm clothes and expect choppy weather. Also expect a fantastic time - I wish we were going again!

I have been in that situation before, a good few years ago now but I remember how h...
