Just back from this trip on Sea Princess- you will love it!!! You shouldn't expect much in Greenland except a VERY warm welcome! We stopped in Nanortalik (poulation about 1,000) so you can imagine the impact a ship full of tourists has on the local economy. The locals had planned a kayak display which unfortunatley had to be cancelled due to poor weather, but they also did a traditional singing and dancing display in the school hall. There were two tiny shops - and I'd bet my life they'll both open specially for you - whatever day of the week! We were only on shore in Nanortalik for about 2 hours cos the weather made tendering slow. It was long enough to tour the town on foot. My top tip on this trip is to arrange your own shore excursions. Team up with others and hire taxis - you can go at your own pace. Hire a car in Lerwick. - Take v warm clothes and expect choppy weather. Also expect a fantastic time - I wish we were going again!

I suppose there is no quick answer to that and cruise lines vary in what they charge and also for how long you will be off the ship. The thing about excursions is that if you book them using the ship then if there are any delays then the ship will hold on for you and that is pretty much true but there is also another company we use out there that give you a guarantee to get you back to the ship in time and not everybody knows about them or has even looked at them, this is a shame as some of th...

My 6* Luxury Silverseas Experience

By Kerry James

Kerry James's blog

Last week I was lucky to have been chosen to fly to Dubai for 2 nights and then to sample 6* luxury on board the Silverseas Silver Spirit for 3 nights. Our flights from Edinburgh were with Turkish Airlines and we were very lucky to have half of us upgraded to Business Class on the way out, and the other half on the way back.We were late leaving Heathrow which meant we technically should have missed our connection but luckily the flight was held and after a mad dash to the plane (typically the...

Gin…Perhaps the cornerstone of any good night. But when you combine this dastardly potion with Tonic, Ice, Freddie, Karaoke, and 100 plus excitable staff, you end up with blog strap lines such as the above…Yes you guessed it, this weekend was the annual end of year bash for the company, and as with any end of year blow out, there was hard work, and hard play! This year our venue was none other than everyone’s favourite British Seaside Resort of Butlins at Skegness!Usually we t...
