Q:We are first time cruisers with RCC and from friends and research the drinks seem to be exceedlingly expensive - far dearer than the other two cruise companies we have been with. Any suggestions for us as we do like wine with our meals. Do we go teetotal for 2 weeks ? I will not pay over £6 for a beer than have 15% service charge What will a bottle of good wine cost ? 4 answers

Guessing the other two lines weren't American or Italian, RCI's prices aren't hugely different to other US lines. But yes, expensive, and most Brits consequently drink a whole lot less & drink more free tea/coffee/lemonade from the buffets..............Wilba quotes from $26 for white - its the same for reds. About £20 incl the 15% for a bottle which would cost mebbe £14 on a UK ship or in a pub. Far from special but perfectly drinkable. ........That's the house wine, but do check carefully, they have more expensive wines which they also call "house wines" & not all bars offer the cheapest. ......... Just look at it as the total cost of your holiday. The drinks on RCI are more expensive than some (but certainly not all) cruise lines, but the cost you pay for the cruise on a RCI ship is probably much cheaper than the cruise cost of the lines that have "cheap drinks" therefore your total cost of your holiday will probably be cheaper on your RCI cruise. You did not say which other cruise lines you have sailed on.

I think you are thinking in pounds not dollars, you will get a beer for $6 and spirits are larger measures than in the UK.

Wines start at about $26 for white. Expect to pay $38 + 15% for a decent Red.........Cruising has never been cheaper so expect to pay a little OTT for drinks and services..........Wilba
