Sinfonia's code is very similar to any other cruise ship. They have casual, smart casual and formal just like most cruise lines. She is a very nice ship, modern but not too OTT in the Italian way like I found with the over elaborate Costa ship I cruised on. You will find that shorts and jeans are not allowed in the dining room like all other line.

We are sailing from Genoa to Cape Town on Sinfonia on 11 November (19 nights). We quite like to get dressed up but it would appear from comments that dress is quite informal, even on so called formal evenings. Can anyone tell me how many formal evenings there might be on a 19 night cruise, and would a dinner jacket for a man, and corresponding dress for a woman, be over dressed?

Truth Behind Your Cruise Itinerary

By Emily Watts

Emily Watts's blog

Experienced cruisers will already know by looking at an itinerary how far the ports are from the main city and towns. However those that are new to cruising may be a bit miffed when booking a cruise that visits Paris or Rome they are in fact in some cases two hours away. With Paris being the capital of France you know the only water that surrounds it is the Seine. I think the most shocking one that appears is Berlin, people are thinking this will be lovely to visit but in reality it is just ...
