We had a mini suite for our recent Baltic cruise on the Jewel- very similar ship to the Gem.We had a balcony cabin on a previous trip on the Gem and I would say the mini suite is quite a bit bigger. The balcony is bigger with room for a lounger and a chair. There is a a small bath tub with shower over and the bathroom does seem larger. One of the main benefits we found was the dividing curtain between the bed and seating area. This was great for us as we were travelling with our kids. However I can see the advantage if you are just a couple and one of you is an early riser/night owl. We LOVED our mini-suite.One thing to note is that the brochure can be misleading -you do not benefit from the concierge service in a mini-suite-this is reserved for the more expensive suites-Penthouse/Romance etc. This having been said the staff were very attentive. If you are thinking of booking I would ensure that you go for a suite under a quiet section of the ship-such as the library as some people have reported that deck 11 suites can suffer from noise from restaurants above(avoid any cabins under the Gym!).Hope this helps- I am sure you will love the mini-suite.

Based on national averages, this equates to each person in the U.S. using about 38,000 straws between the ag...

Do Silversea Float Your Boat?

By Lesley Millward

Lesley Millward's blog

In the luxury cruise world there are a few cruise lines you would I am sure, remember. The likes of Regent, Crystal, Viking, Hapag Lloyd, Seabourn, Oceania, and Silverseas.
