There is no such thing as a free drink! Or is there?

I had one of my customers call me to ask what if…. They have an existing booking with a cruise line who have just bought out a special offer including free drinks package. Now that sounds attractive and while I was thinking…. Oh no! This is going to take some time to organise a change of cruise booking! I was also thinking ‘Can a cruise line really do the drinks for free’

I know when cruise lines in the past have gone fully all-inclusive, the day after this happened, all the cruise prices for that company went up by a lot of money. I am in the job of selling the right cruise to the right people and I must weigh up if the people on the phone are really going to benefit from the drinks package or not. This can be harder than you think as I have never met the people and who am I to judge anyone by their thirst! Also, if it is advertised as free then everybody should benefit even if they don’t drink the more expensive alcoholic drinks.

I asked the cruise line to get me what the price effect would be to go on the new promotion, with the drinks included. This came back as £702 extra for the cabin. With this kind of effect on the overall price of the cruise my conclusion is there is no such thing as a free drink.

Book an offer when you see. If the ship is going where you want to visit get on and book it. Drink sensibly while on board and there should be no way the bar bill will come to over £702 for 2 normal people who don’t want to wake up with a fuzzy head.

I always try to look out for ships that are struggling to fill up and some cruise lines will add drinks to get the people booking. That is the only time I think you will see a great offer including drinks.
