IONA

Well it certainly has been a busy very few weeks, with most of our time and excitement being consumed with the Launch of P&O newest member IONA joining us in May 2020.

Launch day for a new season is always a manic morning for us at cruise.co.uk and this year was no different, with the Maiden voyage on IONA selling out in just 6 minutes!!!!!! So why are we all so excited about P&O next chapter???

The brand new vessel will hold the record for the largest ever ship built build for the British market carry a whopping 5200 passengers and has been purposely built for the Norwegian fjords. Her maiden season (apart from her maiden voyage) will consist of 7 night itinerary’s  including Stavanger, Olden, Alesund and Bergen all from Southampton.

It seems Iona has been built with the aim to entice new comers to try cruising  senior vice-president Paul Ludlow has said “The decision to base Iona in the Norwegian Fjords was taken as the destination is “incredibly popular with newcomer, 7 nights is a great duration for people to see if they like it, It’s a great opportunity to try P&O for the first time ”.

Iona will feature a brand new design that is the first of its kind in the cruising industry.  The signature SkyDome has been uniquely designed to bring the outside in boasting a glass dome roof and spacious layout  over decks 16 & 17. The versatility of this area will allow a change of atmosphere at different times.

By day you can use the pool, whirlpool and deck chairs, relax, grab some lunch or just grad a coffee and enjoy some live music . By night the pool will transform to a stage for the evening entertainment which will include aerial acrobats. SkyDome don’t stop there  party night will continue after the shows where DJs will play while you dance under the night sky.

I think its clear that entertainment will be the centre of everything IONA,  Movie lovers will enjoy 1 of the 4 Cinema screens showing a mixture of classics and recent blockbusters throughout the day using the latest surround sound technology. IONA will also have over choice of 30 different venues, many open from early morning until late at night, including much loved favourites from their fleet The Glass House, formal restaurant Epicurean, Speciality Indian cuisine Sindhu and it wouldn’t be P&O with Brodie’s Bar !
