Wow What a QUEST…………

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to Dover along with a few of my colleagues for the day to enjoy all the Seabourn Quest had to offer and wow what we day we had.

After visiting a number of luxury vessels over the years I was looking forward to seeing  how Seabourn compares to others in this market. Known for their smaller 6* luxury vessels the Quest joined Seaborn in June 2011 with just 229 cabins on board which are mainly Veranda cabins with just a few outsides, there a no inside cabins on this ship.

What struck me as soon as I go on board was the décor throughout,  Usually in this class of ship I would normally expect a classical more vintage feel however the Quest was far more modern and chic with some fascinating art work to enjoy. The beautiful cabins were just amazing I was so surprised with the size and attention to detail. Seabourn guests  benefit from walk in closet will contain plush terry bathrobes and slippers, mini bar with a pre arranged preference to drinks plus luxurious Molton Brown toiletries designed specially for Seabourn.

Dining on board really is a treat, with the stand out location on board being “The Grill” an amazing partnership with world-renowned U.S Chef Thomas Keller. In America you would expect to pay up to $500 to dine in one at one of his restaurants however on Seabourn you are invited to enjoy his food complimentary.  Chef Keller has developed an array of dishes, ranging from appetizers to entrees to desserts, and we are told he is very much hands on with every decision that needs to be made from menus, to table ware and even wine offerings.

One of the stand out aspects of Seabourn which I think makes them different from other cruise lines is their “Seabourn Moments”. These are unforgettable experience some big and some small which crew member go above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference to guests time on board. Some customers have mentioned before of staff knowing them by name after just one day of being on board, also knowing what their favourite drink is and having it ready for them before getting to the bar. One customer told me how on their first night whilst at the bar they had ordered a bowl of nuts during the evening he had enjoyed his bar snack but had picked out the brazil nuts, the following evening we went to the same bar and as he sat down was given a bowl of nut with the brazil already taken out. These are just a few examples of small Seabourn moments simple little actions of staff who really pay attention to little details  other may miss.

My favourite story of a Seabourn moment I was told a few years ago was a couple on holiday Celebrating their wedding anniversary and one morning were discussing in passing with the cabin steward how many times they had travelled with Seabourn but couldn’t remember which trip they had taken with them when celebrating another big anniversary. Not thinking much of it they went about their day later that afternoon whilst  on returning that staff  member had gone to the ship records and printed off for them their Seabourn cruising history  and even made them a scrap book of all their holidays including dates and where they had travelled. Such a lovely gesture which they will never forget.

As you would expect luxury and service like this  comes at a price but  if you are looking for a cruise offering ultra luxury with a special difference then maybe this is the MOMENT you take a little look at Seabourn……..
