Queen Mary Transatlantic, what can I expect?

Lucky me, I have yet another trip, just 10 days after my last one, with the view to experience what the ship and cruise line have to offer.

This time it is on the Queen Mary 2 with Cunard. I have wondered on many occasions what is the attraction of a 7 night transatlantic sailing, where the only scenery is sea.

Of course, there is as always the excellent dining experience, evening shows and daytime lectures but for 7 days is this enough? It seems so as Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 continues to do the 7 night Transatlantic almost all year round.

I will be picking up the cruise from Southampton this Friday and will arrive into New York the following Friday, nice and early, I’ll be awake to experience the entrance into New York under the Verrazano Bridge, this is normally done with approx 12-16 feet spare clearance above. I’m also looking forward to seeing the sun rise over New York and will no doubt have many photos of the experience.

As I said my aim is to see what Cunard have to offer on board the cruise and I will share all this info via my Facebook cruise page so please follow me.

Whilst in New York I will be spending a couple of nights in Manhattan, my to do list is

  • Have a coffee in a Tim Horton coffee shop
  • visit the Statue of Liberty
  • visit the 911 memorial
  • and probably my favourite, spend a few hours in Central Park, in the sun, with an ice cream.

I would also love to go to a Broadway show but this is something I like to do with my partner and older children so I will save that experience to the time the family goes with me.

Have you done the Cunard Transatlantic? What did you think of it?
