And finally Venice

The last leg of our journey on board Ventura, sailing into Venice. You really need to get out on deck early as everyone is trying to get the best view ! People are waving from all the smaller ships and closer in even from the pavements, very impressive, what a great way to start your 50th birthday.

We had  paid for the water taxi on board, its a very short walk from the ship to the taxi dock, £15.00 pp return, so pretty reasonable, of course most of the excursions would include this, but we just wanted to wander at our own leisure.  It is walk-able from the ship, but you would need very sensible shoes as it would take  well over an hour, nice if you like to walk,  but we wanted to try the water taxi, so off we went.

Although warned that Venice was expensive if you go off the beaten tourist trap it is fine, but my husband had decided he wanted coffee in St Marks Square on his special day, so off we went.

To sit at the cafe the charge is €6 per person , you do have a little band playing which is quite pleasant while you watch the world go by, there was wine for me so happy days !! So hubby decided to join me and after a few glasses and one coffee later we were down €60, but that was a little birthday treat.

And then of course it rained !! I think we were getting the worst weather ever for July in Italy.

All in all we had a fantastic cruise and will most certainly do the Mediterranean again, just maybe different ports.
