Travelling In Doggy Style!!

Cunard’s Queen Mary 2, an elegant Swan that glides though the ocean waves doing countless amounts of  transatlantic crossing every year, but it’s not just people she transports across the Atlantic. Yes she also has Doggy cabins for our four legged friends!

Back in the 1950’s, when the Queen Mary was in service. Elizabeth Taylor took her four legged friends on board, using the sports areas to exercise her dogs and taking full advantage of the on board catering and had the chefs provide the pups with diet-specific meals.

Next was the Duke and Duchess of Windsor who took their little dog, again on board Queen Mary. They asked for a lamp post to be put aside its Cabin (Kennel).

What a great idea though really, I have dogs myself and it is very difficult leaving them, so now you don’t have to! The answer is to take them with you. Queen Mary 2 offers a “Pets On Deck” program, so both you and your best friend can have a good pampering and enjoy the stress free journey. This option is open to Cat lover’s as well!

Whist on board they get lots of goodies such as their own luxury Queen Mary 2 coat, portraits with their owner, their own personal cruise card, freshly baked treats and cookies, and top branded pet food plus many more little perks whilst staying in their own air conditioned cabin, I mean kennel! Now I know what you are thinking, blimey the dogs get better service than us!

No other cruise line will accept our furry friends due to certain requirements and quarantine levels however many countries the Queen Mary 2 visit are thought with this in mind and you shouldn’t have any problems.

Kennel fees start from about £500 for a transatlantic crossing but kennels and crossings are limited so please bear this in  mind. you may need to be flexible with dates.

Cunard has got a strong history in many areas which is why they are known as the most famous ocean liners in the world. They have accepted pets on board dating back to the mid 1800’s and since then Circus Elephants, a monkey and even a boa constrictor have been pampered an travelled in style with Cunard.
