MSC Magnifica to return more Magnific in 2021!

Some very exciting news for all us MSC Fans out there as MSC Cruises has announced that the MSC Magnifica will return to Southampton for a Full 2021 Summer Season.

MSC Magnifica has always been a firm favourite with UK Cruisers, and I myself love the ship, such an elegant and vibrant ship. I always think of Little Italy when I go on board MSC.

But MSC will return to Southampton more Magnific then normal as in 2021 she will under a major dry dock, set to go in in March 2021 and not be finished until April 2021, but this is not the exciting bit, that is that she will be cut in half and have a new 23 meter section added in. This is fairly normal for cruise lines to do, for example Fred Olsen have done this a couple of times but we do not see ‘Stretching’ of ships which are this new which makes this major news.

Cruise Ship Stretching is not a new thing for MSC as a couple of years ago they had the Lirica Class Refit which saw MSC spend just under $300 Million on the MSC Armonia,, MSC Sinfonia, MSC Opera and MSC Lirica and all 4 ships underwent this drastic form of refit to improve the overall experience they give cruisers.

MSC Magnifica was only launched in 2010 so I think this shows the determination that MSC have to make all there ships the best they can be.

This new section will give the ship 7,000 square meters of extra space and extra features will be 215 new cabins, a new kids water park and a larger sun deck and two new restaurants on board almost other new features.

MSC Magnifica does not feature at the moment the top end suites in the Yacht Club, MSC have not said this would be added but they have not yet ruled it out.

New itineraries include a Mini Cruise to give new to MSC passengers the chance to try out MSC, Baltic Captions and the Norwegian Fjords and a couple of Med cruises so plenty to choose from.

MSC Magnifica will also feature the ‘Best Of British’ enhancements seeing a more British Vibe on board and MSC are predominantly European themed but they will put Kettles in the cabins with the famous Yorkshire tie and British Favourites on the menu including Pie and Mash!

The new cruises have been on sale now a little while – are you tempted? Or perhaps you have already booked?
