How clean are we on a cruise?

You have probably heard of  norovirus on a cruise and this can be the worse thing you can imagine when you are on a lifetime luxury cruise. It can spoil it and make it a disaster for you and lots of other passengers on board. Norovirus causes projectile vomiting, diarrhoea, headaches and stomach cramps. Hygiene is particularity crucial onboard cruise ships as disease can easily spread on board. So what can cause it on a cruise?

The main reasons are when people go to the toilet and don’t wash their hands after. Grabbing food with your hands in the buffet. not washing hands before or after eating and generally keeping low hygiene. Crew members on board ships are always trying to encourage people to wash their hands but they can’t be everywhere and they won’t be going to the restroom with you to make sure you wash your hands. The cruise lines also employ people to clean toilets continuously and wipe surfaces in the buffet and also dining areas and floors in general. There is always a medical centre on board to deal with sickness and sometimes they have to quarantine people in their cabin if they are sick and can pass it to other passengers. I think the main prevention are the passengers themselves that should be aware of their own hygiene. The points are to wash or sanitise your hands a few times a day and make sure your children are doing so as well. If a passenger does think that they have fallen ill, then they should always seek medical attention from the doctors onboard. Passengers will be pleased to know that most large cruise liners have 24-hour medical care for nonemergency illnesses.At least one doctor and one nurse will generally be travelling onboard any standard cruise; for bigger cruise liners, there can be up to four doctors and four nurses.

I have never so far encounter this issue on board a cruise but it is very important. What do you think?
