ABOUT NORWEGIAN JEWEL

Typical Passengers

With a multitude of dining options and extensive children’s facilities, this ship appeals to passengers of all stripes. It’s particularly well-suited to families with children, though adult couples and solo travellers will also find plenty of amenities tailored to their interests. Children’s facilities are kept at the aft end of the ship, away from adult recreation areas to ensure that everyone has their own space.

Ship Amenities

Norwegian Jewel’s recreation facilities start with its swimming pools. Children can enjoy their own space-themed water park, featuring cannons, jets and slides galore. There’s a paddling pool on hand, as well as children’s clubs with play rooms and both a cinema and disco for teens. Adults also have plenty of opportunities to splash and play in their own swimming pools, with water slides included at this end of the ship. Sun loungers are bountiful, and the watery recreation is topped off with relaxing hot tubs. Indoors, the ship’s atrium lobby is bright and colourful, with 13 bars and lounges and plenty of live entertainment. Shakers Martini and Cocktail Bar offers retro glamour, while Maltings Beer and Whiskey Pub offers a cosy, traditional pub atmosphere. There are standard services throughout from concierge desks to duty-free shops.

Cabin Amenities

Families benefit from interconnecting rooms, and some standard cabins also offer extra berths the perfect size for small children. At the top end of the scale are the Penthouse Suites, arranged in a private courtyard setting as part of the ship’s exclusive Haven community. Garden villas here also share a private hot tub, pool and fitness room, and Haven guests have access to a private concierge lounge with butler service. All accommodation onboard Norwegian Jewel includes private bathrooms, desks, air conditioning, and flat screen televisions, and a high percentage come with outside views or balconies.

Dining Options

Norwegian Jewel follows a flexible ‘freestyle’ dining plan, allowing you to make nightly reservations in the restaurant you prefer. The main dining room is styled after the St Petersburg Palace, appropriately called Tsar’s Place, and there’s a secondary dining room Azura for multi-course meals and an elegant atmosphere. Specialty options include Cagney’s Steakhouse and Moderno Churrascaria, both top choices for meat lovers with their succulent steaks and grilled seafood dishes. O’Sheehan’s Neighbourhood Grill is a relatively new addition to the ship, offering tasty pub fare and craft beer throughout the evening. Visit Chin Chin for Teppanyaki and sushi dishes, or La Cucina for rustic Italian cuisine. The ship’s buffet is called the Garden Café, and it includes a kids’ area and ice cream bar to delight the littlest guests.

Entertainment

Norwegian Jewel really comes to life in the evenings, with high-energy productions in the Stardust Theatre. Expect plenty of lasers, pyrotechnics, and other show-stopping effects to bring these shows to life. The ship’s lounges and bars also host live music and dancing, with Spinnakers Lounge being the go-to venue for South Beach-style dance parties.

Sports and Wellness

Guests can take part in a range of exercise classes in the ship’s gym, like body cycling, yoga, and cardio kick-boxing. There’s also a jogging track, sports courts, and a golf driving range as well as a fully stocked gym with ocean views. When you’re ready to treat yourself, visit the Bora Bora spa to indulge in a Thai massage or dip in the hydrotherapy pool. Aromatherapy and skin treatments are designed to leave you feeling pampered and soothed at sea.

NCL was hugely accommodating on the day of the Canal Transit. They constantly toured the decks with cool flannels, water, fruit, snacks.
