ABOUT BRAEMAR

Typical Passengers

The low-key ambience onboard Braemar is suitable for a wide range of passengers, who mainly come from Scandinavian countries or the UK. The passenger demographic skews middle-aged or older, as this ship is popular with retired couples and solo passengers alike.

Ship Amenities

Braemar boasts a luminous exterior with plenty of glass to reflect the light and make the most of ocean views. There’s plenty of space for sunbathing on the open decks, and you’ll find two swimming pools to choose from as well as a paddling pool. These are served by outdoor bars, with a choice of beers on tap. If you fancy taking a stroll, you can make your way to the wraparound promenade that allows you to walk laps all the way around the ship. Inside, the ship boasts a sociable atmosphere starting with its airy atrium. Colourful artwork dresses up the walls, and you can choose from a range of pleasant lounges to relax in during days at sea. This includes the Morning Light Club, library, Internet centre, Café Venus, card room, and crafts centre. There’s also a shopping boutique with duty-free goods and everyday sundries. Admire the view from the observatory lounge, or socialise with fellow passengers in the bars and pubs.

Cabin Amenities

Generally you’ll find that the higher the deck, the more you’ll pay for your cabin or suite onboard Braemar! There’s a multitude of different price categories to choose from, but all cabins are tastefully decorated with creature comforts to enjoy. These include a private bathroom with complimentary toiletries, a television, duvet, fluffy towels, and soundproofing. Suites feature a slightly higher level of comfort with bathrobes and integrated CD music systems.

Dining Options

There’s sure to be something to suit your fancy when it’s time to dine, with two main restaurants, a buffet eatery and light snacks by the pool. Thistle and Grampian are the two primary dining rooms, which are assigned to guests depending on their accommodation grade. Thistle is particularly pleasing to the eye, with oil paintings and ocean views. Menus are varied, with a full choice of meat, fish, chicken, and vegetarian main dishes. The Palms Café is the ship’s buffet restaurant, where you can help yourself to a delicious spread of casual breakfast and lunch items. Finally, if you’ve worked up an appetite outdoors you can pick up a burger, hot dog, or other lighter bite at the poolside barbecue grill.

Entertainment

Make your way to the Neptune Show Lounge after dinner to enjoy a live production show. Braemar’s entertainment offerings range from mini-musicals to dance shows, cabaret acts, and magicians. Their high-spirited antics provide a welcome way to spend the evening. You can also venture to any of the ship’s bars and lounges in the evenings, which fill up with live music, dancing and singalongs. Grab a pint in a traditional English pub or enjoy a performance from classical or jazz music combos during your cruise.

Sports and Wellness

Fitness and spa facilities are operated by Steiner, with a selection of fitness classes like aerobics, yoga and kickboxing to choose from. There’s also a fully equipped gym with cardio and weight lifting equipment. Within the spa, you can indulge in Spa Rituals treatments including facials and skincare, or indulge in a relaxing massage. There are saunas and steam rooms as well as a small yet well-organised changing area for added comfort.

Very comfortable ship with a personal touch, the staff even remembered our drinks from our previous cruise! The ship is small enough to make friends with other cruisers. Food good and plenty of choice

We ate in the main dining room for first sitting every night. The menu choice was great with a good variety. The food was excellent. It was delicious, cooked well and most enjoyable.
