CELEBRITY DOES HAVE THE EDGE!!! – PART 2

One of the revolutionary features on-board Celebrity Edge is the Magic Carpet which is a suspended platform floating 13 storeys above the sea, This spectacular space opens to several decks of the ship, transforming to a new venue depending on where it is positioned. So you can experience incredible sky-high views on Deck 16, down to the other decks where restaurants and bars are extended out over the ocean.

My thoughts of the Magic Carpet are a bit mixed, the idea is good and offer customers great options such as restaurant at night, bar or private function area during sea days. and a brand new way to embark or disembark the ship on Deck 2. However looking from the outside at Southampton port the orange colour of the Magic Carpet it looked kind of ugly and looked like more of a crane. Also be careful when booking on a suite or cabin on the Starboard side as you view can be deeply hampered.

In total Celebrity Edge has a total of 29 restaurants, cafes, bars, and lounges to choose from, so there there is something suitable for all tastes. The Edge has not one but FOUR main dining venues which are all complimentary and still have the full waiter service but have a more an intimate feel about them. The four venues are the Cosmopolitan (American), Cyprus (Mediterranean), Tuscan (Italian) and Normandie (French) influenced. At these restaurants a selection of Signature dishes that changes every evening as well as our most popular Classic dishes available every evening.

On top of this you have the Eden Cafe, Ocean-view Cafe, Spa Cafe & Juice Bar and Master Grill which are also complimentary.  And if that’s not enough, you then have further 8 Speciality dining options of Le Grand Bistro Le Petit Chef, Fine Cut Steakhouse, Eden Restaurant, Raw on 5, Magic Carpet, dinner on the Edge & Rooftop Garden Grill. There is also the stateroom exclusive restaurants of Blu & Luminae at the Retreat. So with so many restaurants to satisfy all palates and there is also 11 bars and lounges to suit all tastes and ages.

One of my favourite venues on the ship was the magnificent Eden area. This venue changes throughout the day and night. It has lush tropical plants so you would think that you were somewhere else in the world rather than on a ship and it has multi floor windows so it feels very big. It the day it acts as really relaxing venue and then on a evening it can serve as an amazing venue where you can dance and party the night away – the evening I went to the Eden we were fortunate to attend the silent disco that they had arranged.

Overall I was really impressed with Celebrity Edge, the only negative being the innovative Magic Carpet which was a bit of eyesore I felt looking from outside the ship.
