P&O CRUISES ALL INCLUSIVE DRINKS PACKAGE TRIAL – ANNOUNCEMENT COMING SOON!

Back in July P&O Cruises decided to trial an All Inclusive Drinks Package, for a short while only to see how this would be received and also to see if their product has the capacity and indeed the requirement for such a move. So, a trial was run on Azura only from the 21st July 2018 for a 1 month period and following this trial period a full review has taken place.  The decision on whether this is something P&O Cruises will implement across the entire fleet (potentially from 2019 onwards) will be announced shortly.

We understand that P&O Cruises will make an announcement regarding the outcome of the trial on or around 29th September, so watch this space!

The All Inclusive Drinks Package trialled was not exactly an ‘all you can drink’ option, there are restrictions. Check out a brief summary of inclusions/exclusions below.

The package can only be booked onboard (and must be confirmed by the end of the 2nd day onboard). The cost,  £39.95 per person per day includes the following.

An extensive selection of beers, single measure spirits, cocktails and wines by the glass up to £6.95 per glass. Unlimited draft soft drinks, mocktails, primo Costa coffees, teapigs teas, hot chocolates and small bottled water (500ml only). Also, anyone travelling in the same cabin under 16 years of age will receive the Children’s Drinks Package at no additional cost.

Exclusions/restrictions include adults assigned to the same cabin must purchase the drinks package as sharing of packages is not permitted. Only available on cruises of five nights or more and must be purchased for every day of the cruise. Alcoholic drinks are limited to 15 beverages per 24-hour period (6 am to 6 am) and only one drink at a time may be ordered (minimum 15-minute wait between orders).

I’d love to hear what you think, does £39.95 per person represent good value for money? Does limiting the package to 15 drinks in a 24 hour period defeat the object of an All Inclusive Drinks Package?

Is it a bad idea altogether, does not offering a drinks package set P&O Cruise apart from the rest?

Bye for now.
