The Greatest Movie of all Time

Now theres a statement, just what is the greatest movie of all time and how on earth do you choose.

The Godfather?

ET?

Star Wars?

Being quite simply one of the biggest movie fans ever out there I could go on forever with the list of greatest movies of all time. And so its yes to all the above.

But what if we dont just want to watch the movies, we want to jump straight into the movies, the set, where they were filmed.  Of course we can all visit Hollywood studios or Disney MGM backlot tour to give us a real feel for the movies, but what I enjoy most is discovering the actual filming location, where was it set and can I visit there. With the internet everything is accessible these days.

My most favourite and beautiful location has to be where the God Father was set in Savoca Sicily and the bar Vitelli. I did this on a cruise excursion while in Taormina, “In the Godfathers footsteps,” which took us to the Bar in Savoca and a trek up the small mountain to the most spectacular setting you can imagine and the most amazing churches. I recommend this even if not a Godfather fan. It is simply stunning.

Another setting close to my heart is Highclere Castle, Downton Abbey. I grew up in the village next to Highclere Castle and so spent many school holidays working here for events as a waitress. You can visit Highclere Castle throughout the year for different occasions, spring opening, summer fayres, antiques roadshow, xmas carols services, this year of course there will be a concert to celebrate the movie of Downton Abbey which has just released its trailer. Most excited about this one.

But the most exciting place I would love to visit and on my list is Mountain Lake Lodge, in Pembroke Virginia USA. The setting of none other than Dirty Dancing. This now hotel opens throughout the year and hosts special events such as Dirty dancing themed weekends, there are lots of watersport nearby and outdoor activities, it just looks fab. Now this would have to be combined with Philadelphia and the home of course to Rocky. I would love to run up the steps to eye of the Tiger. My nephew has done this and have to say I am quite jealous. So this will be next grand trip with maybe a cruise out of Baltimore or somewhere from the East Coast. Cant wait to start planning this one.

So what is your favourite movie and how can I help you get there?? Let me Know 🙂 I love a challenge, just please not deep space nine!!!
