Ocean Medallion

Well its been just about a year since Princess Cruises unveiled its new Ocean Medallion system.

The Ocean Medallion which is similar to a small silver coin was set to replace the age old sail and sign card. However it experienced  few glitches during its trial and the ships that were meant to take on this technology this year were delayed.

And so its now great to hear that the Ocean Medallion technology has now been rolled out for every passenger onboard Caribbean Princess.

The roll out was meant to be as follows:

  • Royal Princess (January 2018)
  • Caribbean Princess (March 2018)
  • Island Princess (May 2018)
  • Golden Princess (November 2018)
  • Crown Princess (November 2018)
  • Ruby Princess (January 2019)

So what is the Ocean medallion, well its set to be the most advanced portal to personalise your cruise. A portable personaliser.

It can be worn as a wrist band, around a chain, a clip or just kept in your pocket. It will act as your sail and sign card and ship ID, easy boarding, easy connection to other friends and family onboard ship, luggage tracking and so much more.

I was onboard Royal Princess in May this year and was looking forward to experiencing the new Ocean medallion technology, but unfortunately it was delayed. But this just means I will have to take another Princess cruise again soon.

I have as yet not spoken to anybody who has used this technology so get in touch if you have any experience of it, would love to hear the feedback.

The Ocean Medallion technology will now be phased it throughout the fleet. Cant wait to try it.
