Benidorm or bust

A year has shot by and my partner Mark and his mates are setting off today on the ‘Benidorm or bust’ car rally. They did it last year for the first time and enjoyed it so much they could not resist signing up again.

The aim of the rally is to purchase an old banger worth no more than a few hundred quid, adapt it to a theme of your choice and take it on a navigational challenge from Blackpool to Benidorm, hoping it will get you from A to B. They are navigating their highly skilled team from point to point through France and Spain, completing challenges along the way whilst raising money for the Primrose hospice.

Now when I say highly skilled team, this is in fact made of five blokes from the local pub with one of them just by chance being a mechanic for those unexpected breakdowns.

Last year there were some fantastic entries from ‘Noddy & big ears’, ‘Dumb and dumber’, ‘fire engines’ to famous ‘Super hero’s’, they are looking forward to seeing what the competition is like for this year as they have been working many hours over the last few months putting the final touches to their chariot. There are almost 100 cars competing this year, they’ve chosen a great theme so here’s hoping they come back with the £££££’s

This year they have ironically chosen a travel theme and have adapted a white Ford Galaxy into an impressive Airline hostess carrier which obviously means that between the five of them there had to be a pilot and four air hostess’. Mark drew the short straw and has ended up in fishnet tights and a striking bright orange air hostess uniform.
