Aurora adults only, happy days……….

I was pleased to hear the news last week that P&O are re-branding the Aurora to an Adult only ship after her refit next year. She was the first ship I ever sailed on and is a firm favourite with many of my customers.

With the sale of Adonia to the Azamara fleet, I think P&O have certainly been a little thin on the ground when it comes to choice for passengers who wish to holiday child free. However I think this will be a real interesting move too, as the majority of adult only ships are usually fairly small ships, so with an occupancy of just short of 2000 I think you will get a nice age range of passengers on-board Aurora. Hopefully she will appeal to all ages of couples and singles.

I had passengers last year who sailed on the ‘adult only’ Oriana, they were in there late 50’s and found they were the youngest passengers on board. I don’t think that will happen with Aurora as she is still a nice mid-sized ship that potentially maturer passengers may still find too big.

It’s nice to see P&O looking after their loyal maturer past passengers for once and not just building bigger ships with smaller cabins to pack families in like sardines.

Passengers who have already booked onto sailings on Aurora will have the opportunity to switch over to a family ship or have a full refund along with a future cruise credit of 5% of the value of their cruise so all is not lost.

However if you are waiting for a small size ship to return back to Southampton then the wait will soon be over as the old P&O Adonia which has now been renamed the Azamara Pursuit will be gracing Southampton in August after her refit in Belfast.

Well done P&O for listening to you loyal past passengers & giving them something good to look forward to……..
