Are barriers high enough on cruise ships

I think many people would have read or heard about the lady that fell over board on P&O Pacific Dawn Ship in Australia, I’ve been hearing more and more about people falling over board on more and more cruise’s and it’s horrible to read and hear about.

Many people have been saying that the cruise ships barriers aren’t high enough and that they should be more regulations for more cruise lines to have when it comes to things like this, but do they do enough (cruise lines) when I’ve been on cruises i think the barriers are high enough and i really find it hard to think how some one could fall over one. but i am only 5ft 4 .

This lady who fell over board was away with her Husband and Children and to see your wife fall over board and there is nothing that you can do must be horrendous, the rescue people have been searching for her with the weather against them and on Friday they made the difficult decision and only after expert advice that survival after this length of time in difficult seas conditions and after a full night at seas was not considered possible.

A crew member noticed the women had gone overboard and notified the bridge straight away with the man overboard incident response, The Australian Maritime Safety Authority and New Caledonian authorities issued a call for nearby vessels to assist in the search.

Queensland police officers would board the ship when it arrived in Brisbane on Saturday about 11am, she said. A passenger, who asked not to be named, described the atmosphere on the ship as “very sad, solemn and quiet.

The ship was on a seven-night cruise from Brisbane to the South Pacific with scheduled calls to Noumea, Lifou and Port Vila.

Do you think cruise ships have barriers high enough? can you see how this lady fell?

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very sad time.
