Tip tips for travelling solo

Are you a solo traveller?

Cruises at the perfect holiday for singles. The environment is very safe, there is lots of entertainment to get involved in and there are plenty of other people travelling as a solo too

The biggest pitfall is the price. Help is here! There are plenty of cruise lines offering single cabins. Norwegian cruise lines even offer solo lounges on the NCL Epic.

P&O, Royal Caribbean, Cruise and Maritime and Fred Olsen also offer single cabins to make it much more affordable to travel.

Here are my top tips for going it alone!

Book a large table for dining – you can even ask for a round table. These are much more sociable – you can even ask to be sat with other singles.

If you like meeting lots of different people, then anytime dining is perfect and you can randomly dine with others who show up at the same time! Looking for love?  I know a gentleman who always used to ask for a table for 2 because he was very confident he would meet a lovely lady who he could wine and dine!

The smaller ships tend to be a little more sociable

You might be happy with your own company. Some singles cruise alone because they want peace and quiet and just to enjoy their own company. Absolutely the best way to travel if you want to lose yourself. Try a big ship and you can avoid bumping into the same people and there are plenty of places to escape.

Most cruise lines do singles get together. Look at the daily activity sheet for details of meetings. You could meet up with some lovely people or know who to avoid in the future.

The daily activity sheets also detail other activities you may want to get involved in. A great icebreaker like a dance class or participating in team activities. If you like sports or cards, look out for competitions and tournaments.

Book a trip for each port. Join in with all the sightseeing and trips. Safest option and you get to meet more people and see all the sights at the same time.
