Allure of the seas – big and beautiful

I have just returned from an amazing cruise on the Allure of the Seas sailing around the Caribbean for 7 nights.

The ship is massive! Think I shocked my husband and 5-year-old daughter when they saw the ship for the first time.

The lovely thing about the ship was that you never felt like just another person. The service was fantastic. We never had to wait for a drink at the bar or to dine in the main restaurant. The only time we experienced any queue was at the Windjammer – the self-service restaurant.

We managed to work around this. We were not keen on dining in the main restaurant for breakfast or lunch so for breakfast we chose the cafe in the central park on a couple of occasions.

They served pastries and cereal which was perfect for us. They even offered a takeaway coffee which was handy if we were having a lazy morning!

For lunch, there are plenty of places to snack. Sorentos served lovely pizza and we enjoyed the hot dogs.

We dining in the main restaurant every night on my time dining which allows you to show up when you want. We only booked in once because it was easier to just show up when we wanted.

We did miss the service from a single waiter, however, they were all great with Ella and she was treated like a little princess when it came to her deserts!

We didn’t feel the need to dine in a speciality restaurant. The food was fantastic in the main restaurant! We fancied chops grill – and on the last two nights it was ½ price but we felt it would be too much for Ella

I found my feet pretty quickly and managed to find my way around – it was a bit different for my husband! The navigation board really helped. You just typed in where you wanted and it gave you directions.

We staying in a central park balcony cabin. We didn’t really spend much time on our balcony, but it was nice to look at what was going on.

We thought we would use it a lot at night when Ella was in bed, but we all tended to go to bed at the same time and it was too hot on the balcony!

We were very glad to have a drinks package! The cocktails were fantastic!

If I had to pay for each one it would have mounted up. The cheapest cocktail cost was $10. The choice of beer was good too and the pub on the prom deck had a massive choice of ales and beers.

My husband likes whiskey too! All the drinks we had were included with the package. Even Ella enjoyed the refreshment package. The choice of soft drinks was great!

When is your next cruise? Would you book on a massive ship like this?
