6 of the best – mini cruises

After seeing an article regarding different cruises and highlighting six of the best themes I thought I would also add my opinion on six of the best mini cruises.

Mini cruises are a brilliant way to introduce yourself to a cruise or to enjoy a luxury short break.

Here are my six best mini cruises….

Queen Mary 2 – the mini cruise was 3 nights to Bruges. What a wonderful trip! The ship is pure luxury and sophistication! No need to worry about the weather because the ship is sold and built specially for trips over the Atlantic. The ship is very big so a self-guided trip around the ship is essential so you can find your way around. The entertainment and the dining were fantastic. I would recommend afternoon tea!

Bruges is lovely. We caught a shuttle transfer to the town from Zeebrugge which took just over 40 minutes. Hot chocolate and waffles are a must see!

Celebrity Eclipse – 2 nights over to Le Havre. The ship is fantastic! I love the lawn club and the open deck. In the evening the heart of the ship in the atrium became a bustling nightspot and all the higher decks can also enjoy the entertainment from above. The food and dining options are great and something for everyone. I would recommend the drinks package.

We had a conference so I don’t make it to the town of Le Havre but it is worth a look around and if you fancy a trip to Paris then there are plenty of trips available.

Carnival Splendour – 2 nights to Amsterdam. Carnival are very much the ‘fun’ cruise line! They certainly know how to entertain guests during the cruise. There is something for everyone to enjoy from activities and excellent nightlife. The dining was fantastic and there is plenty of options.

Amsterdam is a great place to visit on a cruise. The port is only 15 minutes walk from the Central station. We took a little river cruise around the canals and went to Anne Frank’s house.

P&O Britannia – 2 nights to nowhere. This trip was purely to enjoy the ship experience and I thoroughly did! The highlights for me was the entertainment! It was really wow! The children’s club was also one of the best I have seen and catered for really young children. The cabins were also very well designed and cosy!

NCL Jade – 2 nights to Guernsey. Nothing better than some unexpected sunshine! The weather was amazing on this trip and what a difference it makes to the atmosphere! It was a very busy cruise and because of the weather, everyone wanted a sun lounger! I loved the ship. NCL is a bit funky with their decor and I love the freestyle feel and flexibility of the dining options. The speciality food was fantastic!

Guernsey is lovely. You are close enough to walk to the town and enjoy the shops and harbour. Beware – The queues were massive to get on and off the ship because it is a tender port.

Fred Olsen Boudicca – 3 nights to Dublin. What a brilliant trip! The ship is a bit small and quiet for me but the bars and the entertainment were good. The food was the best I have experienced!

Dublin is fantastic! I visited the Guinness factory and the bars of temple bar! A taxi will cost approx 30 euros or see if the ship runs a shuttle bus.

What is your best mini cruise experience?
