Festive break to the Peak District

With the festive season fast approaching we decided to have a quick night away in the Peak District to see the lights and famous Christmas markets.
It was part of my dad’s 70th birthday present too and as we all love Christmas thought we could combine both.
Matlock is a really lovely town with lots of nice little shops and beautiful scenery.
Unfortunately the weather was a little wet so we had to take shelter in the pub for a while then headed off to the markets when the rain stopped.
It was mostly rides for little children and food stalls and there were quite a few traditional stalls selling gifts and Christmas decorations.
The kids wasted all of their pocket money of course then we booked into a nice restaurant overlooking the main square and park.
It was nice to get away and now I am back and looking forward to the build up to my favourite time of year.
Whatever plans you have for Christmas I hope it is a good one.
